According to a July 24th report at Simcoe.com the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is recommending Barrie create lots of legal rental suites for tenants.

The provincial Liberal government passed the “Ontario Strong Communities through Affordable Housing Act” in 2011 which encourages cities and towns throughout Ontario to create a legal way for home owners to create secondary suites.

At a Barrie meeting in May many landlords and homeowners stated they wanted a large legal rental unit size.

This way they could rent to families.

Others at the meeting said they don’t want secondary suites at all!
